Solar Systems:
When we design your solar thermal or solar electric system, we take into consideration that each customer has a unique set of factors relating to their physical site, as well as specific personal and economic needs. Therefore, the prices quoted below are estimates which may change with your individual circumstance.
Solar Electric – Photovoltaic:
Over the past 2 decades, solar cells have doubled in efficiency from 10% to 20%. They range in shape & form from flexible thin film devices to large scale silicon/quartz based panels. If appearance is an issue, there are solar “shingles” which can be integrated into the existing roof, allowing you to generate electricity and keep your homeowner’s association happy. Costs have come down too. The worldwide demand for solar panels has spurred production, and where there was once a handful of manufacturers, there are now hundreds to choose from. Investing in a solar electric system enables you to lock in your future costs for electricity. Conventional solar panels have a productive life measured in decades, which means you can look forward to years of clean, renewable energy.

Solar Thermal – Solar Hot Water:
The system we recommend is called the AP30 by Apricus, and is designed for the Eastern Shore (the amount of sunlight we get in this location). The system is sized to provide the domestic hot-water needs for a family of four, residing in a typical 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath home. The system (approx 7’ x 7’) can be mounted either on your roof, or in your yard, depending on which location offers the best mid-day sun. It comes with an 80-gallon water tank and built-in electric backup heat. With the AP30 system, the manifold uses a glycol solution (not water), which can carry the heat most effectively without freezing in winter temperatures.
